Don’t Be Afraid To Ask Questions
When you’re a student, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that asking questions is a sign of weakness or ignorance. But this couldn’t be further from the truth! Asking questions shows your supervisor that you are interested in learning, and it gives them an opportunity to teach you something new. Julian Mitton, MD In fact, if you don’t ask questions when something isn’t clear or doesn’t make sense (even if the answer seems obvious), then everyone loses out because they won’t know where they went wrong or how they can improve their teaching methods.
Find A Mentor
This can be anyone–a friend, family member, or even someone you don’t know well but admire. Your mentor doesn’t have to be in your field; they just need to be someone who has been successful at what they do and is willing to share their knowledge with you. A mentor can help guide you through any aspect of your career, says Julian Mitton, MD: from choosing an area of expertise or deciding whether or not to pursue further education after college graduation; through the ups and downs of life as a professional in healthcare (or any other field); all the way up until retirement!
Be Humble, But Always Be Confident In Your Abilities
Being humble is a great quality to have in any field, but there’s a fine line between humility and arrogance. If you’re not confident enough in your abilities, then no one else will be either–and that’s not going to help anyone!
Be confident in yourself and what you know, but don’t let your ego get in the way of learning new things or admitting when something doesn’t make sense. Asking questions is always okay; no one knows everything about their job right away!
